I have a vibration in my vitara under load, regardless of speed it seems to be fine while coasting i.e. if i back off the accelerator but as soon as there is load it shakes the whole car, rear view mirror, steering wheel, seat. And is noisy. low rpm low load low speed seems okay but as soon as it loads up its back to shaking the shit out of me and the car. Wheel bearings just redone. Also note that it has developed and got worse after my build, was pretty good at first. I'm guessing it is to do with the drive line?

Ive searched and found that it could be transfer case mounts or uni's or tailshaft but seem to be alright after checking today. What exactly am i looking for though? Any suggestions on what could be causing this?

When you reposition everything, as in lifts etc,
it can find a weak point in uni joints and the like.
Because they are worn in to one position, then you move that position.

I'd suspect any old used in the build,

or anything new not fitted right.??

Can be hard to find these thing.

But if its that bad, it will be a serious fault.

i didnt change anythign int he driveline really.. did an engine conversion but gearbox transferr case diff and driveshaft all stayed put... suppose it could of been an existing problem as i dont know how it drove before i got it

Engine mounts can be busted, and appear fine to look at.
Were they replaced

If a uni joint is stuffed, it either can get very hot to touch if seizing,
or can easily be shaken by hand if worn

uni joints are cheap & pretty easy to replace, chances are that they've never been done & alot of vit uni's don't have grease nipples.

pull the shaft & if the uni feels dry & notchy when cycling it through it's range of movement it's rooted, some will show play when rotating the driveshaft when on the car but it could just be a dry joint.

engine mounts werent replaced with new ones, just the existing g16b ones the donor engine came off, but did appear fine. will look into that.
And I will have to have a squiz at the uni's then good fun :/

easy job, 4 bolts on the diff & it falls out

EDIT: don't forget to put some match marks on everything so it goes back together the same.

took a while due to business and laziness.. Atari picked the winner, both uni's were shagged and had a heap of play in them. Replaced them and it drives much better now.
