hi i bought a suzuki sierra 1991 model (1.3l) and it has 31 inch mud tyres on it.

i am looking to get it to go alot slower for some offroad work as low range is a bit too fast sometimes and have been told that putting a 1.0L transfer case is a good way to achieve this. im basically just looking for some opinions and advice on this modification. i have the transfer case and also front and rear diffs which i was also planning to put in to lower the gearing. how would this affect my topspeed as well? ill probly have a ton more questions hopefully this will help some people out.

oh yeah this is also largely because i dont want to destroy my clutch as well.

Hey mate.

Just go straight for 4.9 or 6.5 transfer gears and leave the diffs alone. Its a tried and true solution.

Only need to change the diff ratios when you can't get enough high range reduction from the t-case gears.

not sure who ridzilla is sorry dude maybe i bought it off him

fatzook i have a welded diff and need a rego inspection so i need it removed

monley i guess the transfer case would be enough. how would it go on the highway if i did both though?

just go 6.5s and ya done bloke....see if ya get picked up on rear diff....if ya do put ya rear one in and get the roady then put the welded back in.... ya cant go wrong

It would be doing more rpm @100kph than what it needs to be doing. You may need to do both if you went 33s+ but 6.5s and 31s it will be fine on road. What sort of terrain do you drive?

at 100 on 31s you will be doing about 3600 you dont need to go any lower
