just wondering if i put a 4" spring lift in my jimny would i b able to run 31 or even 30s and b able to flex really well without cutting guards

Spring lift doesnt help you fit bigger tyres. If the tyre hits on stock springs, it will hit with 5" springs. Bump spacing is what you need.

guard chop, correct rim offset and bump stop spacing will all need to be adressed to fit 31's. There are alot of people running 30's and 31's on jimny's, put in a bit of effort and do a search through the rigs section, you'll find lots of info in there.

Are you planning to adress the issue of gearing if you fit 31's?

30's will still need a guard chop, I had to cut a bit out to make mine fit

Guard chop and bumpstop spacers. 235's will fit with no lift (98-05 with stock bumper) , 235's with a 80mm lift rub - Go figure

Rim off-set of important. My tyre's use to rub on the coil tower on the front with 31's and a 4" lift, but they didn't for other people If i was to do it again i would go 50mm spring lift, chopped guards, bumpstop spacers and longer shocks...for 31's that is....

alright iv got some decent offset rims got the 50mm lift ordered and will b here this week body lift just need female bolts. if i need to chop for 30 than i might as well do it so i can run 31s hell lets chop enough for 33s..... how much are guard chops these days any way

Pretty much anything that moves to cut will burn your paint to some degree, a jigsaw might be about the least heat generative.

Don't do the plasma cutter thing! Have you ever seen a burnt out car? Apply heat= instant rust! I've done the gaurd chop and I used a jigsaw for the plastics and tin snips for the gaurd. Don't forget to re touch up painted surfaces so no rust develops. As for the 4" lift..... DON'T do it! I have a 3" suspension lift in my Jimny and honestly off road it's a weapon! On road it's like jelly on a plate! I have big $ fully adjustable shocks and yes they stiffen up the stroke of the suspension but it's the sideways sway warble shit that's the killer! Just a tad to high in my opinion and whilst the terrain I wheel in is severe rutted, big drop off/step up, rocky, deep mud bogs etc I am unsure as to the extra 1" of clearance and travel is worth my car handling like jelly on a plate. So much so that I am in the middle of whacking reduction gears, bighorns, and calling it a weekend warrior as the daily thing is a little tedious now. BUT did I mention OFFROAD? Thing is an absolute weapon with swaybar disconnected, 3" lift and tyres,soon to be double locked it is unstoppable! Depends really on what your after but realise this.... The zooks although are very capable they are not a Jeep,pootrol or cruiser and do not weigh in at 2t plus! Massive lift will give lots of clearance but because car is light the springs are like slinkies or hard as fu@k and either bad back and won't work or work well and jelly on a plate on the blacktop. Be warned! Your choice, your car. I also have a brand new complete 2" body lift sitting in my garage but honestly.... I AM scared to fit it! With such a short wheelbase and narrow track.... Without BIG offset rims, big tyres and wheel spacers.... Rollover is imminent! I know I done mine 2 weeks ago without the body lift!

Red Jimny = 3" body lift + 2-3" suspension + 31s. Looked scary to me and made mine look small.
