i have just put a half RUF in my sierra using OME medium weight 40mm lifted rears.
before putting them in i took out the very bottom load leaf of each. all fitted and driving but now it is super rolly and has a severe case of 'sierra lean'.
for starters should i have left the load leaf in? and secondly has it or will it do damage to the springs how they are now??
on the upside it flexes 10 times better than it used to and it is a way comfier ride!!
cheers jamie

Put a crush tube on the bar bolts that go through the chassis rail... Especially if you use that recovery hook.
Rear springs are sometimes marked L & R ... Were yours?

mine sometimes sits level however not all the time and it will lean towards the
passenger side if i have a fat basterd in there. i havent played with my rear
springs but i am going to.
i think sierras lean and that is all there is to it, i weigh more then 10% of
the weight of a sierra.

I fixed my lean by using one leaf in the drivers side that was slightly thicker than the passenger ( or a thinner one on passenger side )
I did this on both front and back and it sits level. it only saggs a bit when its full of fuel and camping gear and im in it.

The spring with the 'I' on it is for drivers side.

when you fit any type of springs put them next to each other, than fit the one that sits the highest to the r/h side

I've got 40mm ome mediums all round on mine. The ones I got were the same height all round, no specific drivers side set. I've got one extra thicker leaf from another pack in my drivers side front pack which levels it out. How long are your front shackles? They look damn long. theres no way I'd go over teh 110mm shackles I was running You could easily shorten them to bring the shackle angle back up a bit which should lessen your body roll. I've just modded my front mounts so that I could go back to stock shackles because I was getting too much lateral movement in my 110mm long shackles. I've run the long shackles for well over a year now though. I just wanted a bit less movement when cornering on road.
RUF is definately a trial and error setup. I seemed to be tweaking mine constantly.

hey guys, jamies shackles are 2 inch extended. the rear spring hanger is drilled 30mm back and the diff is moved 1 inch forward. Shackle angle is at 45deg atm. Front mounts have been left alone because it's just a half ruf.

what do you guys think about putting an extra leaf in all for packs (removed from some 2inch lifted king springs) and the one of the front drivers side would be a slightly thicker one.......worth a shot??

nope, its not. the 'i' is actully a '-' sign and means the spring is a couple of mm underspec when tested. an 'o' meansperfect hight when testd, and i think we can guess what the '+' means.

Yeah brought them forward and braced them. Very similar to the fronts in this thread http://www.auszookers.com/index.php?nam ... sc&start=0 I don't recommend doing it though. No turning back once you cut your stock mounts off.

yeah cheers for your input guys i might give it a crack at putting the load leaf back into all of the and add one extra leaf to the front right one from my old pack as hooki said.
should i use the longest leaf out of the rear of my old pack or one somewhere in between?
is this adding a leaf going to effect the overall flex and ride comfort by a lot??
cheers again jamie

Ok now that is settled, i have a quick question as well. Instead of redrilling the rear mount, could you move the locating pin on the spring pack? like if i were to leave the rear mount in the same place, and just moved the locating pin back, so there is more spring arch towards the back and therefore not need the longer shackle?
Or is this just stupid? Dont be shy

havent read it all but yes use the longest leaf on both sides out of an old rear pack, if you can reset em in a press a bit even better
zook_fan, yes that is stupid, if you havent figured it out I may noo cad it later to show you jsut how silly that is

royce when you say use the longest leaf on both sides do you mean i need to get four of the longest leafs out of old rears (one for each corner) or are you just refering to the front? will this help the lean at all or just raise both sides equally? should i put the load leaf back in any of the packs? and will this leaf replacement assist the roll im assuming?
thanks jamie

try putting one back in on the drivers side and see if that fixes your lean

Ive seen alote of talk about a lean problem.. This is normal by the sounds of it? I bought a sierra a few months ago and I have the driver side leaning down probably at least 1 inch then the rest..
Is the only way to fix it adding more leafs on that side? Does that make it handle differently then the rest to??

You can get someone larger than you to sit in the passenger seat and even it out

every week just jack the drivers side chassis up untill the wheels on that side
come off the ground. bounce it around a bit and when you remove the jack
the lean will be fixed. probably maybe.
