Just keep an eye out for rust spots, i guess if you plan on changing the engine over dont stress about that too much.

Have a look on ebay and gumtree, some bargains tend to pop up every once and a while.

Ask about its service history, check for any oil leaks from the transfer flanges, gear box and sump areas. check the knuckles for oil leaks too. Check the tie rod ends are in good condition,
make sure the seat belts are free from any frayed edges/small cut or wear marks i.e having the doors closed on them to many times. Look for dints in the fuel tank and metal putty that has been used to plug holes. Check there is enough oil in the engine, coolant levels and have a look at the condition of the air filter too. Look under the vinyl / carpet for rust, check out the seats too if they have covers on them. If it still has the plastic sill covers have a look behind them for rust.

Tie rods are apart of the steering arm components. Flanges are the round plates on the transfer case that the drive shafts bolt to.

A mate of mine is selling this, located at burpengary Armsup

Also pull back the seals to check for the original spot welds,
You'll be able to notice if there has been any panel replacement work.

Probably an obvious one but don't forget to check that the hubs engage smoothly and that the transfer shifts into 4h and 4l.
