Hey guys I've got a grand vitara and i 'm new to 4WD when i go into LR 4WD the ESP light comes on and there this a ESP OFF button, but i dont no what ESP means and what it doze can some one help me out

Up to you? Go for a test somewhere

On a dry track it wouldnt matter

On sand it may affect you heaps because of the side to side wish wash tracks in sand, it will kill your power because it brakes each wheel individually

Once you reach 35km/h esp turns itself back on automatically and there is nothing you can do about it.

I'd turn it off in slippery mud.

of which we all know the issue there is wheel speed versus true-speed.... if you spun the wheels past 35km/hr the ESP would re-engage and you'd have to keep turning it off. lol

my dad's 07 GTI Golf and now Golf R both have "ESP OFF" buttons, and while you could feel it never turned off completely, it NEVER turned itself back on, on its own. Way better system IMO. You could turn it off, take off around a corner and spin the wheels for about 1 second before it eased into gripping and took off. I never had the guts to try turning it off in the wet though so i dont know how long it'd let it spin in that instance... but it stayed "off' until you turned it back on. If you left it off then turned the car off and on again, it'd flash on the dash and beep a few times to let you know it was still off as well - but it stayed "off".

even if suzuki built it in that you had to hold ESP OFF for 2 seconds to keep it off, and it came back on after an engine restart, or a door opening & closing even... it'd be a WAY better system i reckon.

The ESP on my GV stays off in lowrange no matter the speed. This is fact and something I played with on a beach. Also the ESP off button didn't seem to do anything in high range with centre diff locked.

What year and model is your NGV. Ive driven mine and it re engaged as soon as i got 2nd gear.

Im pretty shore no matter what gear your in, after 35km/h it clicks backbin and you cant turn it off. Its called an electronic stability somthing lol. Its in the manual. It basically means when you start to spin the wheels it takes the power out of it until it stops spinning. But on sand its no issue anyway, and drove around bogged troopys all day long. But im no zook tec.

GV is a 11/09 2.4 auto, definitely no esp at 50+kph
