Looking to get a new filter for my 1.6 just wondering if anyone has found a cheaper (read that not worse quality) filter to use. Like a high use item out of a commy or something

If you are talking about a G16B EFI filter, yes, you can use a VL commodore filter, they are pretty cheap. However, this is a "point of no return" mod as you'll need to cut the banjo fitting off the HP hose coming from the tank.

I had a VL commodore filter on my car when it was 660cc powered (vitara tank) I've since swapped to a proper G16B filter to retain the banjo fittings.

I bought a replacement G16B filter from Repco and didn't remember it being very expensive?

Repco do a universal replacement.
RFF75 has a crown around it to run the pipe in in any direction.
Around $27

I think that's about what I paid.

You might be able to find a VL filter for $10 or so, but in any case, and EFI filter shouldn't require replacement very often - there's a strainer on the bottom of the pickup that catches most of the junk, so there shouldn't be much debris making it's way into the filter.

Thanks guys

Steve I am at the start point, thats why I didnt designate a car. I can fit any filter I like (within reason) as I have to make the brackets and all the lines. This is in my LJ81. So the idea was to find a common use filter that is cheaper due to volume sales not quality.
