Made myself a few worklights over the weekend.

you will need :
some LED chips like these
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/WHITE-5050-1 ... 7dbde352e7

some small guage wire from Jaycar ($0.15 per meter) and aligator clips $2.45 / pair) and some heat shrink and solder/iron and finally a 6 pack of magnets ($7ish from Jaycar).

After whacking these all together with about 4m of wire with the magnet stuck to the back of the LED chip (which has it's own double sided tape).

Pretty simple but super lightweight and super compact, with the magnet and 4m of wire you can pretty much position it wherever you want whilst working your car at night, changing tyre etc or just setting up your tent because you got to the campsite way too late.

All up each of these cost me about $5 I think.

I've used them several times already.
They might not be the best but they are the easiest and cheapest and wouldn't be too hard to add 2 or 3 or so more chips.
Ebay has endless possibilities.
