[Decide]

So the vit looks to have done a head gasket, motor was replaced a few years ago with the G16B Baleno motor, advice from a mate is to rebuild it,
Anyone tried these rebuild kits from ebay?

Looking to buy 0.5 for the piston and rings as I can hone out very close to that amount and run standard size bearings.

Anyone tried out these kits/ any advice on the rebuild?

Best off leaving it to a reco shop to decide what size piston size you will need.

As for buying from Greg - 4WDProducts. He's excellent, happy to answer any questions, express post very decent prices.

Budget for a new head. I kept coming across cracked ones when looking for second hand ones when mine needed replacing. Is very common.

I disagree. If you have the correct measuring equipment (which you should if you're rebuilding an engine, you're doing a half arsed job if you don't) and the ability to use it you can easily decide what size piston you need. Either way, unless something has scored the cylinder walls then the next over size is a very safe bet if you want to buy a kit before disassembling the engine.

++++ for Greg here too. He did the same for me. I'm about to buy lots more stuff from him to complete my G16A rebuild. He doesn't sell chinese shit either

Be sure to check your block for cracks through the mains as it is fairly common for it to happen.

I built my GV with Gregs help, top bloke & not one problem. If you can measure your own bore & big ends etc. then it's easy otherwise get it done by some one who knows their shite & grab the gear off greg

Thanks for the tips guys, yeah engine will be being rebuilt with a mechanic helping me (or i should say me helping the mechanic)
