hi all i have had vs commy wagon shocks up front of my sierra for a fair while now with my OME 2" lift.I knew i had to make bumpstops but got lazy but a trip up the forest with corrugated roads and big ruts/flexin and i have blown them and ran em dry i think.What i want to know is how long have people made em?40 or 50mm as i pulled the bottom off the ubolt plate and compressed it by hand about the same as my distance between diff and bumpstop allready.

I would like to build the stops and stop this happening with the next set,thanks all

You only need 1" spacers to stop the shock bottoming out. Thats all I have and haven't had a problem in almost 2 years

sorry forgot to mention the 50mm extended shackles so does that mean i need an extra 25mm,therefor a 50m extension or do you have longer shackles too??it would be easy if i still had a good shock here haha

i have about 100mm of spring and shackel lift and the kyb commo shocks only needed a 25mm bumpstop extension.

25mm or 1" is enough extension wether you have standard or extended shackles.

I'm narrow track shock mounts with 50mm bumpstop spacing and it's not enough. I have been bottoming my commodore shocks with 50mm spacing.

I'm NT chassis/mounts with WT axles.

Shackle length and spring lift make no difference.

It's a measure of the daylight+1" between the axle and bumpstop vs the compression in the shock-1"

yeah cheers steve,i was sitting there today thinking it didnt make a difference if i had shackles or not but id allready made a fool of me

i knocked up some inch ones tonight like everyone else has,but havent fitted them or got new shocks yet.ill look over it again anyway and with a unbroken shock will see what the measurements are?

mine required a 2inch spacer in the front and also about a 2inch in the back aswell. I was told when doing it to allow a little more length because of the actual rubber being able to compress.

ok so here we go,today i went to supercheap grabbed the gabriel book same as last time got the shocks to suit vs wagon got home and they are longer by about 15 to 20mm on extension and compression so the 25mm bumpstops i made last night werent gonna work,i knocked up some 40mm ones flexed it up the stairs at home so that the bumpstop was squashed to the diff pretty bad then put the new shock on,has about 5mm to spare but i think ill go a little bigger with my spacers just incase.

It just seems wierd to get different shocks this time round?

also the little buggers have gone up in price since 6 months ago from 36 a shock to 45.50.......not happy

I've used 2 inch extended bumpstops in mine, and the shocks compress about 10mm from the stop.

no looking at the brake line just the bumpstop. ok.

and on the back. it has a rubber cone on the diff. if i just bolt a square tube piece of steel 2 the plate it pushes on, that'd also b good enough?

and that works with VR/VS Station wagon rear shocks?

Its all good Shep. ypu've got better abrasion resistance in the center of your line that way.

the cheapest i could get my commodore shocks down here was $90 each because the supercheaps down here didn't keep them in stock

So VS bombadore shocks in the front.....what are you running in the rear for a 2in lift...?
