It's almost "rubbery" and I wondered what it is that determines the "feel" of a gearbox. Some cars (Honda S2000, Integra Type R, MX-5 spring to mind) have a beautiful precise throw. I've never torn down a gearbox so I don't really know much about the workings of them.

Generally a sloppy shifter is due to worn bush or shifter bolt. If you just pop the gearstick out you'll see if it's worn
