Hey guys has any one got any links or knowledge about vitara tanks fitted a suzuki Sierra, and a pic of one out of the Zuk.

Were is the filler hose located?
Are they bigger?
Can anyone measure 1 up please? ?


I may be able to score 1 along with some other things for a trade of a days work

Filler is at the top. SWB are 40L and they require new mounts.
LWB are 50L. It is possible to squeeze them if if you move the exhaust.

Vit LWB 50L tank
400W x 750L x 360H
This LxW doesnt include the seam which goes around.
I got mine for $50.
You can shoe horn it in, maybe clearance it a bit on the front upper corners it will fit.

This is how much space you have to work with (with a BL raising the tank a bit).
400H (or 350H no BL, 400W, and 850 at the rear to 750 at the front. A custom tank in this space same height as stock is near 100L.

As for the new front support, I made two hangers which drop from the crossmember supporting the shorts.
Its probably best to sheet this crossmember (2mm) whilst you are at it.
I used the same concept as gspotsteve on his build.

The rear I welded a bit of angle onto the pipe and chassis rails at the end.
Then drilled into it and tapped it.

As per the armour Ive made, Ive shunted the car around it with forklifts tynes into the tank and no dents.
I have lifted the car using the tank guard many times.

The overflow bottle etc on the vit tank I removed, and used the stock sierra one.
The biggest pain, was making the fuel filler fit.
I shonked it together using some random pipe and the cut up sierra filler hose. It restricted the flow, and took ages to fill her up. I left it like that for 1 long year.
I was at a mates place and found a cut up filler pipe (think it was from a hilux tank), sitting in his scrap heap.
This was exactly the right profile, I just used two straight joiner bits of hose on it now, and can fill it at full trigger.

I may be changing my setup as I am contemplating getting rid of my bodylift when I finish my guard chop.
If I remember I might get more pics.

My car was a daily at the time.
I pretty much just pulled the old tank, cut the mounts, then forced myself to make the vit tank fit as quickly as possible.

The exhaust has been changed a little, but it is still temporarily in place.

I can't be bothered to go climb under my car and get pics.
Perhaps a little later Ill take some pics if I redo it, but I need to remember to take pics.

I had 2" BL

The rear mounts are drilled straight through the crossmember, Should of been crush tubed but was half rushed. All old mounts were removed.

Definitely SWB. LWB is comfortably as wide as the rails and too long front to back to fit between the rear crossmember and the shock mount on a SWB.

This isn't a good series of photos, but here's and idea of the difference.

A LWB tank in Piggles:







The LWB tank is 55L. It's pretty hard to get it to drop between the rails, even at the rear of the chassis.

This is a 2.0 LWB tank (75 litres?) in front of the rear axle of a LWB sierra. It's very tall and the same width as a 1.6 LWB tank.





It needed to be hammered down to fit between the rails.

Here's a 1.6 SWB EFI Vitara tank in a SWB sierra.



(This car has a complex exhaust, and the tank was mounted very high)

Here's one under a SWB mounted to clear with a 2" BL. filler goes over the chassis rather than under it.



both these cars have custom shock mounts and the stock tank/shock crossmember has bee removed.

Here's one in the back of Piggles (all crossmembers are custom in this case)
