Other spares I've ever carried for wheeling trips are tcase mounts and a fan belt. Have had to use my spare tcase mounts twice so far.

I carry a lot more than 5 trail spares, but here's the ones that get the most use:

Transfer case mounts. Sooner or later someone goes on a trip with ebay case mounts and they break.

Uni joints. We've replaced a few trackside over the years.

electrical terminals, crimp tool and some spare wire, with a test light or multimeter. I think the #1 "quick fix" item on a car will be an electrical gremlin.

Before we were nearly all running doubetoughs, We used to replace quite a few CV's trackside. If you go out with people running 31's and they're on stock CV's, spares aren't a bad idea. not everyone has to carry one, so long as someone is. Ensure someone has enough tools to change them out.

Fencing wire and race tape is handy

We've started to ensure someone in the group is carrying a pair of spare brake pads. It started out a couple of years ago when a car spat its front pads on one side.... then this year Piggles did it. I'm sure it takes a combination of borderline under thickness rotors and flogged pads to happen, but it does happen. It's a bit of a show stopper and quick to fix.

Vice grips can be turned into a spare anything :D

Like I said, I carry a bunch more than this, but that's the stuff that gets used.

- Spare brake pads. Being disk front and rear I've dropped more than the occasional one.
- Spare transfer mounts when I ran stock ones.
- M8x1.25 bolts, lengths 40mm-75mm.
- Vice grips.
- Basic electrical troubleshooting gear. Multimeter/tape/wire coil.

So out of all that a CV is the only actual spare you take with.... Or do you take a spare tool box etc incase your other one breaks?

Has happened to me twice on the driver side with two different rotors

Was going to ask why people list tools as spares.

Oil - for me it's a spare
Starter motor - cause mine is a bit dodgy but haven't changed it yet
Engine mount
Wire relays and fuses
Steering biscuit, gearbox and transfer bushes all for other peoples use

I list vice grips as a spare because it's a tool that has gotten me home in a SHTF scenario when I haven't got the actual part with me.
- Bust a brakeline, use vice grips to close off that circuit, top up the fluid and drive.
- Bust a transfer mount, use vice grips to solid mount it till you get home. (tie them on in case they drop off so you don't lose them).

Good hose repair tape, for fuel/water lines. The stuff I use is rated to 950PSI, so in theory could be used for emergency brake line repairs.. Apparently can be used as a back up fan belt....
Assorted bolts, stock wheel nuts can be used on allot of stuff under a sierra.
Assorted fluids, for the car and myself.
Tape/cable ties/hose clamps/rope for reattaching things.

+ all the random shit you don't think you would need...
