Hi All,

I recently bough a Jimny 2000 and slowly I am improving the 4wd capability of the vehicle.
Would you guys be able to give me advise regarding recovery points that could be used. I am unsure if the manufacturer recovery points are strong enough.
Was also interested in a winch bar but would not like anything too heavy or big.
Would appreciate any tips that would make the car a better 4wd.

I had the same problem with my 2008 Jimny. The easiest way for me around it was to get an ARB winch bar which has two recoevery points on it for the front and a Hayman Reece towbar on the back - don't ever recover off the towball though because you'll kill somebody when the toeball snaps.

Yup you guessed right, they won't pull the skin off a rice pudding. I folded one of mine under the front after a day of wheeling. Built a decent steel winch bar and now I recover off that. Rear I use towbar with ball removed and shackle in its place. They may get you out of trouble... But I wouldn't rely on them in a serious situation.

Front, Small front bar or something made up so it can take a strong hook and not rip the chassis

Rear, Towbars are strong on the Jimnys. Well the one i had was. Otherwise make one similar to front for a hook

The Jimny hoop points are not recovery points, They are tie downs for trailers, trucks etc. They are as weak as TZARS or Keensy's patience

APIO in Japan do some great stuff for the Jimny, but are notorious for not doing overseas shipping. Small items like recovery points might be OK, or their website might just give you ideas to do your own.

If you have a towbar your in luck. Remove the towball and shackle it through the hole. For the front on a stock jimny... Your out of luck, nowhere is a safe recovery point.

I like this idea that BlueSuzy made but it doesnt really ty in to the bumper that good, so I have been searching the net to find some other ideas so I will be making these. What do us guy think?

If you do find any for a reasonable price or any other different recovery points could you please put a link up and a price for future references for others because jimny's are starting to get popular. Thanks

The front recovery points in those pics look nice. The rear one is the same point where my hayman reese towbar bolts in on the chasis, in fact my bar bolts in two parts of the chasis on each side so four in total....donno why ppl say they arent a good option for recoveries....mind u that there are cheP towbars thT only bolt in 2 points or so and only have a thin tongue to snatch from or put a ball for towing
