Hi guys,i have completed a RUF conversion in my lwb sierra, including upgrading to widetrack axles. . mine is an 85 lwb sierra soft top and after putting in a 2inch maxitrack lift all round (removed load spring for front) i have found a huge lift, reading about 6inches of liftthe old springs were pretty clapped out but this seems like a phenomenal difference. Anybody had the same experience? Shackle angle is bloody terrible but hangers are 980mm eye to eye front and back and the rear shackle angle is good. I am hesitant to move the front shackle hangers backwards as I wonder if these springs will settle and correct the angle? standard rears done, front not mega lift more mega lift Confused a bit

Have you driven it yet? My EFS springs took about two weeks to settle at the right height.

6-8" of settling is a bit out there... My 2" gave 3.5" for about a month.

It wouldn't be hard to see 6" of lift depending quite a bit on how you set the ruf up. How is your shackle angle, how much arch in the springs?
Steve.

Definitely spring under, shackle angle ia currently pretty damn bad actually, shackles are vertical. and yep heaps of arch in the springs. It is a very very obvious lift,i have done the same lift before and it didnt lift half this height
zukmeister i will take it for a putt around a bit this morning and see if it helps. seems like it has to drop a loooong way yet!!
EDIT: ok, rears dont look that out there, prob about 65mm in the rear lifted but the front...more like 150mm+

It looks like its sitting fairly level, if not, slightly nose up.
I'd say your front prings were absolutely shagged, and your RUF is making things worse with the new springs.

Hey mate. What did you do to the front hangers? If you really wanted to sort it maybe swap a leaf for one with less arch. Or take one out.

if you have done a "Rear Up Front" and got a lift kit. they would come with shorter front springs. Would this be the case as it would cause the shackles to stand up more?
i always ask to be supplied with 4x rear springs when i get the ebay kits

Got rears all around, moved both hangers to rear hanger distance.
Yeah fatzook maybe you are right. nose is a little up too. il try what its a zook honest said and remove 1 more leaf but i might relocate shackle hangers slightly back( to improve shackle function)

That outcome looks entirely normal for a fresh RUF.
Your rear springs have heaps of lift in them. Put them in the front and you'll get heaps of lift +2"
Flex it up really heard to start the settling in process, and leaves until you get the height you want. Do this before you move the shackle. You might find shackle position is OK once you have thes prings flat enough for the height you want.
I don't advocate matching the rear hanger/hanger distance with a RUF because that's the outcome you get. Rear shackle angle is generally too vertical in a sierra and the end result is the front sitting too high. Having said that, we're always building with bumpstop spacing and limited compression travel.
Steve.

I'd say pretty evenly matched front to rear, weight wise.
SWB's are nose heavy, but not by much.

Lwb is a lot heavier in the rear. Stiff springs that I never had a issue with in my sub when fitted to my lwb would invert the shackle when empty and just driving up my driveway.

A lot heavier in the rear than the front or A lot heavier in the rear than a SWB
I'd say a LWB is 40kg heavier tops, and it's all over the back axle.
