Anyone know where I can get some?
My jimny has like 50,000k's and already either the transfer or engine mounts are starting to go tits up.
Doing an engine conversion soon, so going to replace them all as I don't know yet which one is worn. How about some polyeurethen? anyone know who sells them?

Search "jimny mount" on ebay and you can see the transfer mounts I just ordered. They look cheap, not uprated ones, but for $50 for all three I can just keep replacing them.
As for engine mounts, it's too much work, want some uprated ones.

We just pulled an M13a out of Mud_munchers jimny and BOTH engine mounts were broken...we were wondering what that big knock was coming from under the car launching it from standstill haha.
If you don't want your engine mounts to break just wrap a big stainless hose clamp around it...not super tight but not loose enough to allow it to come apart. That should keep them together.

put in gear and slowly bring the revs up with your foot on the brake, sort of like a line lock burn out. While your doing that have the bonnet up and a mate watching the motor from beside the car (not in front) they should see the engine twist up with revs.

well i just ordered a set of VL engine mounts, dunno if i even need them but what the hell... big increase from stock.
Ill do a how-to thread for the jim so you can see exactly whats what when i do it.
hey squibby, when you get the t-case mounts let me know if they are any good, might get a set myself. the case was hitting the tunnel pretty hardcore on the cape trip.

Please can I get an update on whether the VL mounts fit a jimny? I presume we are talking a VL 3.0l engine mount here?

I fitted unbreakable engine mounts tio my Vitara. They are desined for fitting various Vitara motors to Sierras. Needed a bit of modding, but wasn't hard. It may point you at something. I got them 2nd hand, pretty sure low range sell them

Yeah I have one VL mount, I thought the auction was for a pair so its still just sitting on my bench. I havent been up under the car to have a look at the mount so cant confirm or deny anything at this stage. Sorry about that.
If I get a chance Ill have a closer look when im home next. Cheers.

Btw.. "when i get home" isnt for another 2 weeks.....
so if you have a donk on the ground, you may want to look into it on your own if your'e in a rush.

Yeah exactly why I was hoping for the VL thing to pan out, I expect they are easy to find, commodore wrecker here in town.
I expect I shouldnt have trouble getting jimny ones but if mine broke with the 1.3, and i'm going for a 1.5 engine now...

Yeah I think that's a fair enuf plan. Could prob buy both JImny ones and VL ones cheap enough anyway. And if I'm a real cheapskate, take back the set I dont use...

Can anyone confirm if those LROR mounts require any modification to fit Jimny, and what the difference would be between the 3 versions on offer?

They are for 1.3 sierra, sierra with a 1.6L swap, and sierra with a 2.0L swap. Yanks never got jimnys, so they may fit a G13BB jimny ( probably not) but they definately won't fit an M13 jimny without mods.

I can confirm VL 6cyl commodore mounts, perfect fit for jimny. Just drill a new hole for the little tab, or grind the tab off.
Keep in mind that jimny mounts are an enclosed mount and wont let the engine flop around even when broken. Dont think the VL ones will break but if they do the engine will be flopping around destroying things

As I say, grind off the little tab (o rdrill a hole for it to fit into) and it's a perfect fit. I suppose it was easy for me, the engine was out LOL
I have never changed one out with the engine in the bay but I imagine it would be a case of undo old mounts, lift the engine (engine lifter or maybe a trolley jack) then do the swap. Others on here would have done this before, i'm sure.

Time for some new mounts for my Jim, are VL mounts stiffer? I take it they're stronger?
