originally it was just a cat back 2.25" exhaust with a muffler, then after fitting a hi-flo metallic cat it changed the note slightly & now had a bit more bark to it. the coolest thing is it now makes the burbles you get from over run.

Yeah i like the burbles too... sounds good when you are in 2nd and take your foot off the gas around 3500rpm...

I get this, and then sometimes when I get back on the gas I get a BOOM as it backfires :p

i was wheeling with a bunch of ricers the other weekend & they all commented on how nice it sounded throughout the rev range.

Ive already got the extractors and buying the muffler and cat and then geting the shop to do the rest.

Dont know about Magnaflow, sounds expensive... lol... I have a Mercury brand hi flow muffler, its aussie made, cost about $100, here is a phone camera movie of me doin a dune climb -

Don't no what brand of cat or muffler they will use, and I doubt they will be hiflo.
So I was gonna buy them and just get the shop to do the rest of the piping

For that price, i would say they are gonna use the old clogged up Cat... if you are gonna get a better exhaust put on, i would ask for hi flow everything, only the cat will be more expensive, the muffler should be the same or less, as there is less in the muffler, no baffles, after all, the point is to reduce restriction, and get more exhaust flow... but i guess if you are limited by money, then just get the best you can...

My 2" after the extractors, a straight thru muffler, and exit in front of the passengers rear wheel is pretty unrestrictive, and in cab, when on song, is pure delight.

Update...
As some may know, i started off with a 2in sports system, with hiflo everything, on my GV... you can hear it in the video link here -

I thought it was pretty good... but the way they did the bends over the rear axle, and the actual outlet/tail pipe size, it ended up being much less than 2in diameter, and still felt a bit restricted... so a few months ago, i went and got a new 2.25in sports system, from the Y joint back, again with hiflo everything... the 2.25in really freed up a few more ponies, and, it sounds even throatier/deeper now, even more like a rally car, hehe, it has more burble than before, even got a few pops, or small backfires, hehe, i thought the 2in system sounded good, but the 2.25in system sounds even better now...

I just had my jimny done in 2" from extractors back, high flow cat and 1 red back high flow muffler.... Sounded like shit with a drone and bad vibration farty crap sound between 4-4.5k rpm. Took it back the next week and the done a little re routing as I wasn't happy and fitted a 15" resonator as well, sounds better, still drones at 4000, lost power. I am filthy with the exhaust..... Twice now and no joy. Unsure if best to live with it, redo by a different shop etc. also note not mandrel bent so all bends restrict pipe diameter to well under 2".

I was thinking the same about the bends in mine the other day. Was thinking about getting some of the 2" bends off eBay and having a crack at welding it up myself.

Redback are shite. Horrible noise, just drives you nuts on extended drives.

I've got extractors (on it when I bought it) and 2" system with the original cat and a hiflow muffler. Sounded great until I did the head a few months ago. Had to punch the guts out of the cat to clear it and now it sounds a bit raspy for my liking, but it's still not bad. (Nowhere near as nice as Tombutt's V6 though...)

Did it have a rear resonator? I had a redback cat back bolt on system on my vx commodore and i was worried being an auto about drone, but it came with the main hi-flo muffler and a rear resonator. And it did'nt have the slightest bit of drone.

No resonator, was an auto SB Barina (stock system was rusted to shite, so had to replace it.) Was a specific system for the SB. Would have had a hot-dog put in, but relationship ended and I was pretty happy to leave the car with the ex.

Noisiest Barina you've ever heard, but at least it rumbled instead of screaming. Drone at cruising speed just resonated through the whole car.

I had a Mercury brand hiflo muffler on my GV, when i had my 2in system, Mercury is Aussie made, and sounded good... with my 2.25in system, i am not sure what brand muffler it is, they only listed it as " M/Flow ", which could be Maxflow, or Magnaflow, it was $100, but it does sound really good !
