Anyone know if its possible to use other gears or gearsets from the APV in any of the M series Jimny boxes?

eg. APV ratios

I would like better highway cruising without using big diameter tyres.

Don't know what jimny you have but my 2012 auto sits on ~3000rpm at 100kph maybe some components from an auto might help? Not sure but thought it might be easier than from a different vehicle all together.

Bigger tyres will make it rev less, and make your car slower on the hiway.
what do you want, lower revs? If you have stock gearing and tyres then your jimny should cruise along the hiway pretty good.

I hear that if you put the fifth gear cog out of a sierra box into a non vvt m series gear box it drops the rpms by about 100. A guy on this forum built a long wheel base sierra with an m15, the car is a dark colour with a custom square bar tray, look for the build just to confirm.

Dont know about ur motor but a vit is nice at about 3600 on freeway

yep usually small motors love revs but not in this case.

Will love to know if any gears are interchangeable from APV, VITARA or JIMNY boxes

Don't no about g13bb Jimmy engines but m13a Jimmy engines love to rev.
Dropping your revs below the stock rpm, will make your car perform worse.

Its going to be 1974cc with a t28bb turbo so would definitely need higher gearing in a 570kg vehicle with small diameter wheels for the track so would love some GURU with some knowledge to chime in if possible whether I can use other gears in an M series Jimny box otherwise will look at adapting a T5 world class box but too much $$$

No one will know until you try it.

You will smash that gearbox with that power.

Im looking at adaptor plates atm to fit a mazda or toyota box, most likely toyota box
but the 929 input shaft is almost spot on to a suzuki and heard in the past of a sierra
with g16b 94mm stroker with a 929 mazda box conversion and suzi input shafts on
the G and M seris seem the same.

Im following a lead on someone using in the past a Mazda b2600, b2200, 929, ford trader & other Mazda based gearbox which are about the same length, stronger, easier to source and almost perfect input shaft if not the same.
