My NT 85 with GTI mk2 feels like it is running out of fuel when climbing on road, gets very gutless and shakes badly. I have hooked up a pressure tester and that shows std pressure and holds it after pump is turned off.
Took car into high country last weekend and it seems to be fine in low range, plenty of power. It feels like the car just hits the wall when on a steep hill in high range and I have found myself right back to low gear some times.
The reason for this post is could this be the computer or electrical gremlins or do I pull the tank again and change the (Nissan Exa) electric pump.
If anybody has had similar probs I would appreciate hearing from you.
P.S. It ran fine previously but I did push the bottom of the tank in on a run in Toolangi, Have since pulled it back down but this could have damaged the pump but as I said the pressure seemed to be fine.

Holding pressure after the pump is turned off is a lot different than supplying x-litres/min @ pressure to the engine under high load. Sounds like you have squashed the inlet/strainer to the pump by bashing the tank in.

I suspected that might be the case, but was hoping to avoid pulling the tank out again-- wishful thinking

Turns out it is not the pump, pressure never varies even when motor was breaking down. Turns out it is running too lean on two cylinders, 1&4 and destroying the spark plugs. Time to put the original Suzuki oxy sensor in and flick the s/h magna one. and have the injectors cleaned.
Most of the pollution crap was disconnected when installed into the Sierra, does anybody think that would affect the oxy sensor readings and cause the computer to lean out the fuel mixture?
