ok guys have got a 1.6 ltr motor with a 1.3ltr wiring harness going into a 1.0 ltr wiring harness promblem is alternater light on dash wont turn off but the alternator is chargering battery anybody body had this promblem and fixed it before cheers shaun

Have you removed and bridged the 1.0 external regulator? I don't know whether this would have an effect, but it will need to be done regardless. (My guess is it is having an effect, but can't be certain)

so steve u just say remove the regulotor complety and run the wires strigh into the wiring harness

You'll have to do a search on this. It might be buried in Christovers old sierra build thread, but the 1.3 and 1.6 alternators are internally regulated. you can't just unplug the external regulator, you have to bridge out the connections. I'm pretty sure christover had a diagram of how it had to be done, which I copied years ago when I went to my 660cc motor in Piggles.

The regulator is on the firewall above the passenger's left foot. It's clearly marked.

yeah i know where it is just asking weather u just bypass it and run the wires stright into the harness or is there another way thanks anyway steve

you can't just "bypass" it.

Give me 20 min or so and I'll post some photos. I've dug out my old 1.0 loom with the bridged regulator plug on it.
