It looks like my next tyres will be 205r16 Treps. Kinda disappointed with my KM2s, they perform more like an A/T. They're pretty crap in mud but are faultless on the road and on sand. I expected more from them offroad but they never seemed to bite into anything. The bartreads are a better offroad tyre IMO.

IMO they're more of an "all terrains" type tyre... along with the majority of M/T's. bar treads GTFO i'd hate to see what you though of A/T's, if you want a mud tyre you can't got past the simex/silverstones.

Yeah, IMO (lol) most mud tyres should really be called all terrains. The KM2s do have a pretty closed in pattern in the 30" size and are less aggressive than most muddies. Aside from rock (obviously) they just never really bit into anything or gave confidence inspiring traction. Bartreads are awesome, they really bite into stuff. Bloody useless if you don't let them down though. I see no point in A/Ts. Seriously, I can't fault the KM2s on the road. You'd seriously think you were on H/Ts. BFG A/t's offroad (and on road) ability make baby jesus cry. matty_wall wrote: sideways wrote: It looks like my next tyres will be 205r16 Treps. I was lucky enough to pick up 2 half worn ones for $20 the other day. Just need to buy 2 more. That's cheaper than I thought they would be! I've got some LJ rims to put them on.

YES and YES, no need to take spare off, i got 4 31x10.5 in the back of my shorty with room to spare. i would possibly get the mtz but only to see how things go with gearing and fun stuff. like atari said, "you cant go wrong"

Just saw these on ebay, the pirellis scorpions where the best tyre i had, but these are mud the ATRS lasted 90,000k! and still had a bit of tred. Damn good price found as well, think i got the ATRS for 235 each from memory. I know these would do a lot of rubbing but would be nice to have them on! http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/4-X-NEW-235- ... 43b451a5b6Where can you get cheap rims for a GV? outdoor auto is selling 4 XL-7 alloys for 100 each.

I'm going to be in the market for a new set of tyres in the near future. Hoping to run 33s on the zook with 15" rims.
Just a bit of background: The zook wont be run daily on muddies. I have a swift for daily duties. Where I live, it's 50% mud, 50% clay.
Anyway, I'm torn between either boggers, silverstones and TSL's. I'd like some advice for anyone in a similar position (condition wise) and how they made they're decision or what they suggest.
Cheers, Alex

Boggers aren't directional, consequently being no good on off-camber low grip surfaces.
Bang for buck you can't go past Silverstone Extremes. I'm on my second set now and love them. They rule in the mud / sloppy vic conditions. I did a trip to Cobaw last weekend which is basically rock driving and I was impressed at their performance. The only catch is, they suck for on-road driving. The wide lug tread pattern sounds like an aeroplane taking off. I have had Simex Jungle Trekker 2's as well and they were a good tyre, not as aggressive as the silverstones, but much quieter for tarmac driving.
Good luck with your decision... I'd go the Silverstones....

This is the second zook I've had 31" silverstones on and they are great, just wasn't sure if boggers towered over them in terms of off-road use. Agreed with the on-road performance of the silverstones but not too fussed about on-road mannerisms.

Good luck with your decision... I'd go the Silverstones.... thats not why they would/might suck on side slopes. Directonal has nothing to do with how good a tyre on side slopes they have little to nothing in the way of side ways edges only long blocks across the carcuss and a single center grove. if they had groves or broken blocks around the dia of the tyre it would total change this.

i can attest to that.. when i had Simex ET's (same as the silverstones) cross slopes were VERY scary, as all 4 wheels would slide down the slope rather than giving forward traction. having the rear locker turned on made it even worse as it'd try to drop the rear down the slope first... i got myself onto MANY bad and scary angles, and i hated the tyres for that. It is a little unjustified though, as the weight of a sierra vs. the stiffness of those tyres meant that beadlocks were almost a necessity to run low enough pressures to really make the tyres work well on rocks etc. Without beadlocks i couldnt go lower than 6psi, which meant they were useless on rocks too, as they never conformed over them to help with grip.
This said in a straight line in mud they were near unstoppable, and impressed the hell out of me.

I have simex centipedes in 32s. in mud clay they are off dick but rocks are pretty poo. and you will want beadlocks if you want them to work properly but that goes for any tyre in that size.

What pressures were you running? If you have the power and can keep the wheel speed up through the sloppy mud they just keep dragging the vehicle through. You should try them on a zuk that's fully functioning

Hey AJ, i may have got the directional bit mixed up... I have no real world experience with boggers. My comments were based on a conversation i had with dank about cammo's 40 series ute which runs 38.5 inch boggers. He said they sucked on side slopes. Like you were saying, We also discussed that the boggers would be a much better tyre if you grooved them to make smaller blocks. Like you see on the crazy madram vids on youtube... Also i googled "boggers on side slopes"... Intersting what comes up...

Dnt think many people t running them yet but I've ran ttc claws on both Jimny's and they have been super impressive. They work super well on rocks, with barely any side slop issues work well in clay and mud. And also no problem on road or sand. I rate them very high.

Hi guys. Was at the perth 4x4 and adventure show today. Both the coopers guys and Kumho guys there suggested i could probably put 225/70r15's on my stock jimny. would that work without rubbing? i will eventually have a 2inch lift but for the time being i want rid of the stock ht's and figured if something this size fits stock height i wont bother with anything else once i do lift it. thanks

Most jimny owners run the 215's tho, ill let them chime in with all the facts tho.
