just need bit of advice...stripped out the old seats as foam's gone and rails no loger work...just need to know if you can just bolt in a new set of seats or do i have to get a cert to pass roadworthy? also the mounting points are different for driver to passenger side...Would the mounting points have to be modified to suit new rails?...any info from people who have done same would be great...

What state are you in??

I just had mine through a roadworthy check and they didn't mention about the seats.
I have autotecnica's mounted on sj40 rails. Just had to re drill the hole on the back of the rails.

if you tamper with the rails, you will need a mod plate, cost me $100 to get it plated.
you can get bucket seats from auto barn or the like that come with adapter "rails"so you bolt the "adapter" rails to the standard rails and the seat bolts to the adapter rails, thus you negate the need for the plate as the rails are standard.

here were mine in my old ute.

no pics of the fabbed up rails, but they were pretty much like the standard setup, just a bit higher and wider.
FYI if i had my time over again i would never fit seats like that to a car again. much better comfier seats out there, heck if i just reupholstered the old ones it would have been better.
