hey guys im looking for ideas for transfer mounts for my 6.5s so they stop breaking, i tried to find zookenator's thread on his way but it goes back to the old site
Whilst Bruces mounts are great, make sure your point of reference are genuine factory rubbers, not Chinese aftermarket copies. Genuine Bridgestone mounts will stretch to the moon and almost never break. Aftermarket copies break if you look at them funny.
I keep a genuine spare in my toolbox and I've replaced more than one aftermarket copy trackside with a genuine replacement.
The trolley tug bends transfer mounts like a boss but has never broken a genuine Bridgestone rubber, even when the tension side has stretched so far it's banging on the floor of the car.
Seconded. The only time I broke an original was because it was "original" (ie 27 years old). I had 6.5s and kept loading up the drivetrain with clutchwork.
Steve (^^^) supplied me a trackside replacement once because my spare was in Salih's old Sierra, when we changed his to the 1L TC one of them was looking pretty shabby (I think it was 23 Years old).
Never broke one in my 1L, even when I ripped out both engine mounts and bent the front diff with the engine, and havent in the Jimny but they arent/werent geared and only had/have 215s..
