Is there any specific do's and don't while on the island?

Drive.

Head up to Inskip point, cross on the barge to the island, drive up the beach to Cathedral. Done.

Don't feed the dingos, don't speed, don't swim in the ocean, and don't root any filthy back packers.

 That pretty much sums it up. You should put that forward to the Queensland Government for an ad campaign for Fraser!

Don't think they make soap strong enough, and there is no cattle dip on the island. :?

Haha don't think the mrs would appreciate that too much fatzook, any special gear I should take? I was lookin at tide times and low is at something like 6am and 6pm or something an they say don't drive 2 hours either side of that so how on earth can I drive the beach if the barge is at 830am?

Where are you getting the barge from? Inskip is the easiest. Just rock up. No bookings etc needed.

The river heads barge ( hervey bay) is by booking only.

Have you ever done any sand driving?

This might sound a little complacent, but I've never taken more than a snatch strap, rated shackles and a folding shovel to fraser. Yet to use any of them.

I want to get a recovery hook for the front just in case though, This is where my nudge bar is bolted on. If I get a hook could I just bolt is straight onto that point where the bar is on the left?

NO - that nudge bar mounting bracket is not strong enough to have a hook bolted to it - it should be bolted directly through the chassis rails.

If you are going to Fraser you shouldn't get stuck, but If it were me, I'd be using the loop on the front crossmember.

Unless both vehicles have massively over engineered recovery points, it should go without saying, that recoveries are to be as gentle as possible.
Explain this to the people you wheel with before every recovery.

It shits me to tears when someone does a fuckhead recovery, and puts my life in danger, especially when they just laugh thinking its funny (makes me hope my recovery points are weaker than theirs).

You need to ensure they have really good recovery mounts, if there's is dodgy, its your life at risk.

^ that should be posted at the start of every discussion about "rated" recovery points. No recovery point is dickhead proof.
Stock Suzuki "tie downs" are perfectly fine for recovery if everyone uses their head.

I just got back from Fraser. I took my stock gv up and didn't get stuck once. Cathedrals have fuel at $2.10 a litre. Have fresh water at $2 for 20litres and toilets. There is a shop there that sells everything. Make sure you take enough alcahol(if you're drinking) a 10pack of bundy sells for $60!!

Make sure you check the depth when crossing Eli creek. There was 3 4bys that got a little water under the bonnet and needed a rest for a while when we were watching haha

Really? I'm at Fraser now, and Eli is tame. Well under bonnet height.
