There are two dots or two lines. Not below one and not above the other.

And yes your are a dick head for not knowing.

too much oil would only cause low pressure if its WAY too high and the crank is hitting it making it foam up. Too low is way more common.

Also, I know its probably stating the obvious but make sure you're on a LEVEL surface when you check it...
