I have recently bought an lj50 to restore. I'm stripping it down at the moment and I want to be gentle as to not create more work than necessary, as well as keeping it original. Dash controls- -pull knob switches with electrical connections ie. wipers, headllights... - air controls (lever operated) - ignition barrel What is the correct removal procedure? Any help or info on the matter or just lj50's?
Cheers Ryan

Ha ha I just worked it out, but one had to be drilled out. Do you know how to remove the speedo cable from the transfer case? As well as the shifter?

the speedo cable has a screw in part into the transfer. Just use pliers or multigrips and loosen it.
the shifter has a round spring loaded cap around the stick which needs to be pussed down and rotated before it will pop up.

Rotated! I didn't try that. I could see the nut but wasn't sure. Cheers Is there a repair manual for LJ's? All I have found is sales leaflets and owner manuals, and I'm not familiar with this engine set up and I'd love some info!

Ask at a library, they have pretty much every book imaginable in the system. I know there's an LJ50 manual in the W.A system. They wont let you take it home but you can copy/scan whatever whilst you are there.

Good call! Come to mention it I think I know a local second hand book shop that may have it. I'll be checking the library this afternoon!
