Have been searching for laws regarding placement of lights and if a reversing light is required but cant finda any info, found a good deal of info regarding light placement on trailers but none for vehicles. Reason i need such info is i am making a bumper bar and need some lights for it and dont really like the stock suzuki ones. Will hopefully use Led round ones around the 100mm Dia mark.
I will include reverse light if required or not but have found a set of tail/brake and indicators with matching reverse light but reverse light is not ADR approved and others are. Would have to fail rego/roadworthy on a set of lights.
Any written info would be greatly appreciated/
Doug

there is a ADR regarding the minimum spacing requirement for lights, it's been posted on here previously, just had a quick search & i can't find it.

with the sierra being so narrow it's pretty much the stockish location from memory, as long as the lights are ADR approved for break & turn etc they're legal to use.

sorry boss :(

Your build looks to be going very well, but I'm going to suggest reworking that rear bar. The position of those lights is WAY too close to the centre of the car.

From memory, turn signals have to be no more than 450mm from the widest part of the vehicle.

It's not worth building something that's so obviously contrary to the ADR's - it's inviting a cop to have a closer look at your car.

Steve.

i take the "may be fitted" to mean that reverse lights are optional... i wouldnt not have them either way, but id assume non adr approved are fine since they're not compulsory based on that wording

That is pretty standard for most cars built before about '76 or so.
My XA ute and XB coupe both use the indicators as reverse lights.
