I must be typing with my thumbs or something as I can't seem to find much info on them. I have a feeling its the base model and that all vits became "grand" by then.
I can rip the eng, loom ecu and firewall bits off in a few weeks but its a fair round trip and through the Lewis pass over here in NZ so not super keen on doing a car transporter that far (and wld have to hire it for a few days), but interested on what else may be useful into an SJ. I can prob put 6hrs into stripping it and drive back the next day
From the few pics I can find on the net it looks like they run a 15in steel rim - wld the front calipers n discs be the same as the earlier lwb brake upgrade?
An idea if these have the coded key? the local dealership couldn't tell me - got bumped between their service n parts dep.
Is it worth droppin out the fuel tank even if its only for the pump?
They appear to have a front facing plenum but I havnt been able to find too much info on them.
ANY info would be great.

It's probably the best possible donor for a sierra conversion.
Take the fuel tank, the WHOLE loom not just the firewall stuff, instrument cluster. I'd grab the brake booster and master cylinder too.
I don't believe the brakes are an upgrade, I think they went back down to 2dr vitara size with that model, but I think the calliper offset is different. Could be wrong with that stuff though.
Not sure on what diff ratio is in that model, but you might want to grab the front diff as it means you're 1/2 way to a set of lower diff gears.
I don't believe the key will have an immobiliser in it. Not concrete on this though.
Did you mention somewhere it was an auto?
Steve.

highway star on here has one out of a GV in his.
yes it has a coded key so you need the key and the sensor ring that sits around the ignition lock.

Auto was in the 3.8 rant, thats why I started another thread when this popped up to lessen the confusion . They dont pop up often over here for a reas price so I can handle a 900+k weekend. The firewall ref was for anything in the eng bay to run it - when I mentioned I was happy to travel and remove bits for agreed price the dude even said I could stay the night there and he was happy to tip the body with his tractor to get at parts an load up my ute . Will stay with my cousins an hour and a bit down the road to lessen the travel time there and back though. Coded key? AAAAARRRRGGGGHHH. ( Wheres the "Conan The Barbarian" Icon)

Might be worth considering doing the swap the way I did in Piggles - I put a Vitara loom in mine along with the steering column so I did lots of reorganising of wiring, but I have the whole vitara loom in mine. The immobiliser key might make the idea of swapping columns even more appealing. Steve.

86 zook = 25+year old wiring. But GOD so much for the easy swap, late model g16 = MAF and VSS sensor (WTF) plus an encoded key.... If I hadn't sold those 4ag bits (for gd coin) under pressure from the wife it would seem like an easier option. Did I mention my gear box is poked / now started crunchin 3rd as well...
It may be easier to solder a megasquirt? than to fudge my way through all of that. MAP is just a hose tail into the inlet away - MAF / AFS / hotwwire is a concern to me as the vehicle is an insurance write off even though it drove home / even if its ok sounds expensive to replace eventually. Heck the rwd 4a loom I sold had bugger all plugs left in it - the few eng related ones that didnt plug in were taped up (AC PS etc) so I know there's not a lot to wire in.
I will try and get all the bits to run as the factory intended. Is the column easy enough to fit steve and is it collapsable?? Was hoping for a eng loom to ECU easy fiddle but open to options.

SO, assuming it hasn't go the coded key... can anyone give me a complete list of the "fiddly" bits from the engine bay etc required to run this? Any help would be great as I am not familar with the engine - I am doing a long round trip to collect the req bits so cannot shoot back to get bits and apparently the eng has been removed. I can make reas deductions as to what goes where and have around 8 hours to rip it out.
Thanks in advance

Anyone? want to point me in the right direction on this one as am off fri arvo to do it sat
If the engine was still in the car I could trace and name most things
-can still identify bits in the engine bay but was wondering if there were any funny bits to look out for as pics on the web leave a few Q's -I will be ripping the loom and ecu -I hear the fuse box is worth taking -I think im allowed the fuel tank -If this is a coded key one then there's the key n ring / no barrel itself / may try for the whole steering colum (are they the collapsable good ones/ easy fit) does this run back to the ecu or somewhere seperate and then the ecu? -this vss rubbish, do I need to get the instrument cluster out / can any vss do it / can I trick my SJ cluster into sending this signal? also how important is the pluse if my speedo is out? - If there is psteering is it compatiable with the SJ
Even if you can only answer 1 of these things would be appreciated.
