Hi have searched here and many other forums for an answer to this question with little luck at this point. The remote for the doors has stopped working on my 2002 has stopped working despite a battery change. This has happened in the past and i took to a dealer and they 'reprogrammed' it but hit me up $50 for the privilege. Does any here with an Aus Spec XL7 have any knowledge of what the actual process is? My concern is that it is something simple that I am being overcharged for. Have tried the ignition on off door opening stuff to no avail. Maybe I should give up and throw the remote away. Just remembered that it has unexpectedly worked again at times then stops again. I have usually discovered this by accident when mucking about. If its maybe a loose connection does anyone know where the controller/receiver point may be? Cheers in advance for any thoughts.

You don't have two? Sounds like its time to get a new one, doesn't the book in the glovebox tell you how to reprogramme it?

I did have the procedure for reprogramming the gv remotes. It was a real pain and had to be timed exactly right or it would not go into programming mode it can take a considerable ammount of time to get into it. It was a combination of key on and off and pressing the drivers door switch. I am away at work atm but if you still need it I can have a look for it late next week when I get home.

Chop: Had two but other fell to bits. The manual as far as I can find has no instructions on on how to do it. If someone has a service manual that could have a quick peak that would be appreciated.
Wombat: It would be much appreciated to get the instructions that worked for you. No rush.

i managed to stop mine while i had the spare in the ignition and locked the doors with the spare.
I buggered around with the door lock switch on the drivers door and pressing the lock button on the key and managed to get it going again.Try pressing different combo's on both at the same time and see how you go.

Its just a matter of plugging in the Tech II or SDT and entering the Remote or Key number into the immobiliser and ECU, doesn't take long.
I looked at my SDT but cant detect the Immobiliser unit which sucks as you can get new remotes and transponders for keys quite cheaply of Ebay and some Chinese manufacturers.
Looking through the service manual it always refers to using the Tech1 to register and deregister Keys/Remotes.

Thank you gecko. I take they are diagnostic tools of some kind. Don't have one and unlikely to so will stick with the key unless I can find someone local with a tech or sdt. I thought it might be the case for the xl7. Cheers everyone for your input.
