Hey guys,
Resantly theres been another issue with the engine, (think it might be getting to the end of its life)
When im between about 2000 - 3000 revs, when accelorating it feels like the engine is .. pulling back? kind feels like a bit of break is being put on the engine. It mainly happens in 2nd/3rd/4th around about 2100 revs.
Any one know what this could be?
might need a heart transplant..

It coudl be anything really. and i dont think a new engine will solve it.
not knowing what engine you have...
Fuel- hows the fuel pump? fuel filter clogged? air- i assume the air intake isnt blocked, long shot but is the filter full? spark - hows the ignition timing? hows the plugs? check leads for resistance? check the coil for resistance? ground straps on engine not damaged/removed? EFI- ecu throwing any codes? any sensors not performing like they should? (crack in map sensor vac line has got me before in other engines)
Going on the lack of information you give, if you go though the above list of things, you might find a problem.

Right Samwich, I'm sitting in front of my computer now, not on my phone.
As has been pointed out, it could be a huge number of things, but I think you can rule out a few.
It shouldn't be fuel flow related. A long, hard pull in 3rd gear should prove that. If it stumbles and then clears once the engine moves out of a rev range, that's not normally fuel related for an EFI car - the biggest load on the fuel system is at high revs/high load. If it's fine up there I don't feel it can be fuel flow related. (blocked filter etc)
Ignition breakdown means that when conditions in the cylinder are at their most demanding ( Normally full throttle and working up towards, but under, peak torque) the spark is getting extinguished or is weak. This can be because the leads are "leaking" power, the plugs are in poor condition, or there is another problem - cap/coil etc.
If you intend keeping a G16B, (regardless of whether the one you have now is being replaced) then it might be worth replacing the cap, plugs and leads as a starting point. It's unlikely these items are in tip-top condition, and it's likely they are factory original. Even if it doesn't fix your problem, it will rule something out, and I bet you get a better idle and a generally healthier feeling motor out of it.
(Which reminds me, I should do the same)
Steve.

Alright, thanks steve,
Ill go and buy some leads tomorrow, Which cap are you taking about? the one ontop of the motor?
High revs seems fine, Its anything below about 2k revs eg: i cant get any acceloration out of the car if its under 2K revs even in first..
Its shacking (as if stalling) at 900 - 1k idle
Half power now, lacking heaps :/

Pull out the spark plugs and see what they look like before you buy anything.
Take a photo of it, then clean them, a wire brush does wonders.
Then put them back in and see how it goes.
Also meausre the resistance in the spark plug leads before you buy anything, leads cost a fortune.
Have a look at the distributer cap, if its corroded then yer maybe get a new one, but at least clean it first and see if it gets better before you hand over your cash.

As per droverdave, I was talking about the distributor cap.

Thanks, Took the leads out and checked them last night, they seemed normal? (to someone with no experence anyway) How do i measure the resistance of the plugs?

you want to measure the restistance of the leads, not the plugs. You use a multi meter. Check the service manual as to what the resistance is supposed to be. i assume you mean teh spark plugs looked normal. Did you clean them? This is a reasonable guide. http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/tech_suppo ... aqread.aspAlso it might be worth checking the spark plug gap as well. dunno what its supposed to be, someone will know or check the service manual.

I had this in my Sierra. Found it was shorting between alternator and the overhang from my accelerator / throttle cable. So only when i planted my foot would it be close enough to short as the plastic cover was not over the alternator cable and it was also angled the wrong way.

Are you certain all pistons are firing? Might need to do a compression test. I've got a similar issue and it's not a cheap fix.
Also, it sounds like the distributor cap firing order could be wrong if you got them mixed up when changing over spark plugs.
