HI fella's

I removed my thermostat the other day, after i did that the temp gauge has not been working since. I have cleaned the temp take of point on the thermostat housing and also made sure the spade connector was tight. Any ideas on what is going on ???

Out the thermostat back in. Why did you remove it??

get a bit of wire, put it on the terminal for the gauge (pull it off the sensor) and earth it onto something. You should see the gauge read fully hot. If it doesnt, then you have either a gauge issue or a wiring issue.

if i does go full hot, then double check that the little copper wires are actually making contact with the spade terminal.

Thanks guys will give it a go. Pulled the thermostat out because of heating issues.

Pulling the thermostat out is a band-aid fix for the real cause of the problem. I would be looking elsewhere for the cause of your overheating also mate

Yeah i have replaced radiator ( just cause it was suffed) have also installed new water pump. Played around with heater core. Any other ideas what could be causing it would be well recieved. One day i will take it for a drive and it will run like a dream another day it will heat up within 5 min of driving. ??

Did you bleed the air out of the cooling system??

What actual temperature is it getting to for it to overheat?

Yeah did bleed the air out many of times. No it doesnt have a fan shroud, it goes right off the gauge most of the time. It was doing it before i replaced the water pump after i replaced it it ran fine for about 2 months then one morning on the way to work over heated again. I think it might be the head gasket but i am trying every option before that.
