Alloy to steel front diff housing swapover.

I own an 01 GV SWB SQ420. Done a fair bit of reaserch..... a front locker can only be installed inside a steel housing ....an alloy to steel front diff housing swap has apparently been carried out before. Ive learnt that the mounting is different and requires modification to fit. Im hoping for Information on how to do this properly.

21 minutes... talk about impatient. :roll:

there are 2 styles of pinion mounts on the GV steel diffs, being a SQ420 you will want the early style of mount that matches the one that's fitted to your car as i believe the later mount will fowl your sump, there is heaps of info on the 2 different mounts.

depending if yours is manual or auto you might have to swap diff ratios as the steel diffs are usually from the V6 manuals.

what sort of locker do you want to fit.

Thanks for the welcome atari4x4! Sorry for the slight impatience...this has been troubling me for some months now and have only just found you guys!
I have aquired a complete steel front diff housing and insides....had my mechanic double check diff ratios already to ensure they match. Only thing stopping me is the actual mounting. The mechanic said there would be a kit or at least some knowhow on making it fit.
My GV is manual.
Will be fitting the ARB type lockers front and rear :-)

the diff housing is a direct bolt in replacement.

Glenn if you're getting ARB to do the install of the lockers, make sure they're upto speed with the issue with the RHS CV not engaging properly on the side gears.
