What do people think about the liqui moly brand of oils and additives i.e cleaners etc? I normally think the stuff in the ads in mags and on shows are pretty skeptical but the liqui moly seems to be pretty good from what i've read.
Thoughts?

Porsche etc use liqui moly, i have used it and with good results. all there products are good and have seen fuel efficiency increases.

The thing about Liqui moli, is that moly is more suited to High Pressure, eg transmissions, but In our engines where the timing belt is a chain, it also helps, main thing is it reduces wear by providing extra cushioning between metal on metal contact.

Main thing to stay away form is PTFE eg Slick 50 and Nulon products as what happens with PTFE is that it brakes down in high temps eg 200degrees pluss and then clumps together grinds away at your parts and blocking valves etc.. Plus its completely useless as teflon needs to be bonded to the mettle before its useful, simply adding it to the oil is pointless. New cars often come with Teflon coated piston rings, these are ok, but Slick 50 and nulon saying that there products coat the engine parts with a protective layer eg PTFE(teflon) is bull crap. as said before it has done some pretty expensive damage to one of my cars and one of my dads car.

If want the absolute best product there is Bitron made in qld and Milton 1 which is a simlar product designed for Nasa and farming equipment that has to withstand bellow 40 temps. This chemical actually does bond to the metal and the hotter a section of the metal gets eg where the most friction is the more the chemical will be attracted too.

Only downside is its pretty expensive, but i used the bitron fuel treatment and got a extra 60-100ks out the tank.

Ive used the fuel and engine addative. Noticed an improvement in idle quality from the fuel injector cleaner. Had a reoccuring problem with what seems to be a sticky valve as my car sits fot two weeks at a time used the engine treatment on the off chance that it would have some effect and no noise. Im very sceptical about addatives but they seem to have worked in my case well so far anyway. Will see how my car starts in a week when i get home

Just got myself some Lucas Upper Cylinder and Valve lubricant, Cleans, cushions valves etc, meant to get big increase in fuel economy and help protect the fuel side.

Filled up my tank and will report how good it works, its $18 for a 1 liter bottle so will get 10 tanks out of it so if get a extra 7-10k out of a tank it pays for itself and you know your valves etc are being protected.

A Mate has, he tried fixing a major fuel usage problem, it didnt fix the fuel ussage problem as most likely needed to be adjusted, but did say his car ran alot better, eg engine was alot smoother.

Nulon or Wynns are just as good for getting in your eye and smell just as nice, they clean stuff good too

But they are a maintainence thing though, cleaning a carby doesnt really cause any great things to happen

Really Gecko? Porsche use liqui moly? I ask this question because porsche have Mobil 1 all over their ads, and on stickers on their cars from the factory.

I have checked the Porsche approved lubricant list, and Liqui Moly is on there, but so is almost every manufacturer of the specified oil grades in the world including "Beijing Tongyi Petroleum Company"

Porsche also state that any approved oil can be mixed with any other - i.e there's no need for an engine flush when changing brand.

There's pretty specific standards that dictate the technical parameters of oil production. There's not many miracles out there. Oils aint oils? I think that might well be mostly marketing. API& SAE dictate the performance of an oil for the most part. Porsche specify synthetic or Hydrocracked oil - and that's not marketing spin.
