Ok so just got back from holidays and was told my engine was siezed on the vitara. I called bullshit and turned the engine last night. It was running but seemed to not run on all cylinders.
So I had a sneaking suspission that it was ingition. Cool, No problem. Dropped past and seen Shep and grabbed new plugs, leads and distibuter cap.
So I took the plug out of cylinder at the front of the engine bay and a small fountain of what looked like to be petrol (and smelled) came out like a small fountain. I took the other plugs out and nothing came out of them. I left the engine to dry out after that for a few hours.
So I just cranked the engine and some more petrol came out of the remaining cylinders. I was sorta expecting that. I cranked the engine until all the cylinders where clear but now it seems that there is no petrol getting to cylinder 1 as there was gust's coming out of the other cylinders but not this one.
There is not a small ammount of oil on the ground. My car never leaked oil before this problem.
Basicaly my next step in this scenario is that I'm going to change the oil, Put everything back together with the new leads, plugs, etc and see what happens.
Fingers crossed It was just an ignition problem and is fixed with this method I'm thinking of but I'm being very sceptical.
Any suggestions anyone?
If it requires a new head/ boring/ rebuild then I'm gonna look at getting a new engine for it all together and would anyone know where to get a g16a in good nick?
Cheers all!!

could be a sticky injector, the injector looms are also known to fail over time but i think that leaves the injector open.

Thats the other thing I forgot to mention. When I pulled off the air cleaner there was a small ammount of fuel in the pan and it had slightly melted the air filter.

The oil didn't look that flash on the dip stick but it was hard to be sure. I think the oil is full of petrol. I'm guessing that is from the pressure build up from all the fuel but wouldn't that fuel be coming out of the exhaust instead of being trapped and pressurising in the cylinder?

Ok today I dropped the oil which was full of fuel. Filled a 10ltr drip tray!!! I put fresh oil back in and put everything back together. Fired up almost stright away.
Now One thing that I noticed is the leads were on the wrong plugs. I know I didn't do it so I'm wondering if that is the reason why it has fckd up but would something like that lead to such a problem?
I'm thinking of taking it to a mechanic to get pressure tested and a general check over just to be sure.
Fingers crossed it's all good to go

Hmmm, Ok I'll pull off the fuel pump and see if it's got any signs of wear. Hopefully it is the carby. Might give me an excuse to get the webber I've had my eye on.

Um... who the hell have you pissed off??? or am i missing something here??? I'm the head Bouncer and one of the Duty Managers at the local pub. Pretty easy to piss people off. So I've just gone to take it to the mechanic. Block is full of petrol again. My mate took it over to sheps the other day and thats not that far so I'm perplexed as to why it's so fkn full. Getting a tow to the mechanics. Hopefully it gets sorted. Praying it's just Carby/fuel pump.

Ok last ditch attempt at fixing this problem before I submit and take it to the mechanics. I've got a brand new fuel pump that I'm going to fit tomorrow, drain the sump (again), clean it up and fire it up and see what happens. Fingers crossed this time it works.

it has to be the fuel pump... at least the motor will be nice & clean on the inside with the all the petrol that's been through it.

Lol Me and my housemate where just giggling our asses off today saying the same thing. I know it's gonna clean everything but will it clean it so much that new leaks will apear? Had a bloke years ago tell me that in older engine's sometimes the gunk buildup is sealing things that would have otherwise been broken down and leaked. I havent really seen inside an engine before so I dont know if theres shit that the petrol will melt or cause to come loose etc.

luke3411 wrote: I havent really seen inside an engine before so I dont know if theres shit that the petrol will melt or cause to come loose etc. My main concern would be how long its been running on heavily diuted oil - unfortunately its not uncommon to total the motor when the fuel pump goes. It sounds like there may have been enough fuel in the bores to hydro-lock it so a compression test would be a good idea.

Ok so I've admited defeat. I put a new fuel pump on, new oil, put it all back together and now it's doing something different. I had the air box off and the only description that I can describe it as is the carbi is backfiring. I wasn't igniting (thank fuck) but I got my arm covered in petrol. It was only doing this at Idol and when I went to rev it.
I've dropped it at the mechanics and asked them to call me when they have a diagnosis.
I'll Keep everyone posted on what exactly is the go because Heaven forbid, Some other poor prick is gonna have this sort of thing happen to them.

Mechanic cant find the problem and reckons it's gonna take awhile. Should I start thinking about just dropping in a new engine?
