G/box bush at the bottom of the stick I'm guessing or you don't have the gates lined up right.

Need to make sure all the gates are lined up so the stick goes into the right place. Was there a bush at the bottom of the stick? If not that I'm sure would be your prob. They are cheap to buy someone on this forum sell them.

Just make sure that the three notches on the selector rods are all in line across - You can move them with a screw driver or such.

Is the starter spinning? If so it's the gear throw out (Bendix) that is stuck.

Pull the starter out and see why it is stuck and fix it and just a thought - It is not connected the wrong way round is it? IE solenoid to ground?
