as the title states i have a 1L motor that im probably not going to use. i have been told from a mate that it ran before he started stripping everything to redo the body. it has a polished rocker cover and he put a bigger cam in it. it also came with extractors and stainless exhaust. would i be better off trying to sell it all together e.g. motor, gearbox and exhaust or parting it out separately? I'm guessing the 1L gearbox is a different gearbox to the 1.3L? if some one knows of the rough cost of the components each or if to sell all together a price for that. thanks for the help

They are getting hard to find in running condition. Chuck it on ebay for $250 if you KNOW its condition.

thanks for the replies. Would love to see if it runs but its only the motor sitting in the chassis atm but not sure if i could dummy up rig to get it started quickly or not. Wouldnt have a clue on the cam specs all i know is that he put a bigger cam in. $1600 i think i just fell over, if i could get that it would help my build out crazily!!! just pulled out the speedo that i pulled out of that car and it has 210xxx on it.....

Don't hold your breath waiting for big dollars I have bought and sold a number or 1 litre engines, my latest buy is a complete 1 litre hard top sierra with 6 months rego for $500 I am at Straddie driving it around at the moment. Fair price for a 1 litre engine you are not sure of condition and cant hear running is realistically $50 - $150, get it running and you can double that if its a good one.

Dcraw are you on both side, it is easy to get it running in chassis if engine is complete.

I'd pay 50-150 for one like yours.
I'm after a 1l engine, pity you're on the other side of aus!

Sounds like somewhere between 1 and 16 hundred is your ballpark. Anything is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.... If you can fire it up so you know it runs and then consider how quick you want to shift it and what its worth to you for a starting point. Also look at what you wld pay for a whole vehicle and subtract all the other bits, I have a feeling around 200 on a gd day, maybe start at 250 neg?
I have sold car parts for less than what I could have got and more than what I paid etc and karma rewarded me with a deal for bits I needed recently
