I am new to the forum and I have just acquired a 1989 Sierra which had been sitting for about twelve months.
It's in quite good condition but the windscreen wipers have seized. The shafts which come through the wind screen where the actual blade arms attach are seized solid. I think they are called the wiper control assembly? It's a soft top model and I haven't had much success finding a set through my local wreckers hot line, so would anyone be able to furnish me with a part number for a new set or a suggestion as to where the best place to try to get a set from, used if possible or new if necessary....

are you saying the pin that comes through the frame doesn't turn?
i'm not sure how they'd be seized, it's pretty loose connections and fitting back there. Have you dropped the windscreen frame forward and tried taking the assembly apart?

Maybe the wiper motor doesn't work? or a bad connection?

They will seize up if not used! Same thing happened to mine, check your wiper motor first, disconnect it from the wiper arm assembley to make sure it still works then if all is ok remove the whole wiper arm assembley and drown the pivots (The parts that the wipers attach to) in WD40 and work them til they free up then re-assemble and all should be good! Thanks for your replies, they are seized alright! I took them out and gave them a good squirt with WD40 and managed to get one moving a little but that's it. Unfortunately because the outer case is diecast I can't use a brass drift to knock them out without breaking it. So I guess I will have to buy a new set if I can find one....

Someone should have second hand parts they could get to you. You're not a real Suzuki owner if you fit new parts

O.K. Problem fixed! Took Bog Frog's advice and soaked them in good old WD40 then worried them untill I had some movement. They attach to the arms with a ball joint (Nylon Easily removed) so I clamped them in a vice and connected my electric drill to them and gave them a good spin, keeping up the WD40. popped them back in and they are working perfectly....Thanks heaps for the replies and advice.
