Have disassembled the factory carburetor on my SJ80 to clean the gunk out of it.

Now that it is back together the linkages don't work quite the way they are supposed to.

Think I have a spring in the wrong place.

Whats it doing? if the 2nd throat isn`t opening in could be thevaccume module. From that pic it look`s ok.

Actually the secondary throttle opens when you open the primary - without vacum, whilst the carb is on the bench off the car.
Which makes me think I have that spring in the wrong place.

Also the secondary jams open.

Sadly the manuals in the download section have the wrong carbs.

The Samurai FSM is for the US models - so has a different carburetor, not an aisin.
And the Widetrack manual describes a fuel injected system.

Damn it.

Anyone got a Aisin lying around they can take a look at to tell me how it is supposed to look?

i shall try and explain it as best as possible.

the the aluminium rod , it should point out toward the idle screw at the back and the bit of that arm the alloy rod attaches to should be pointing down and not out toward the idle screw , then the arm with the dimpled hole , it should be underneath the "roller" on the secondary shaft linkage , then the spring hooks in the dimpled hole of that arm and hooks up over the hook between where the two water hoses go.

i think theres a spring missing from between the two hose barbsnear the top of the carb down to the cam that sits behind the accellerater cable doovy.

the cam locks out the secondary when the is not fully open. Sorry I'm not that technical, maybe someone else can enlighten the both of us.

Yep, moved the choke offloading arm so it was pointing in not out.

disassembled the linkages so I could reposition the secondary lock out tab thing, with the spring hole in it.
Attached the spring. In business.

Oh, and the shaft is very badly worn were that secondary lock out tab sits, so had to beef it up with a washer, so things weren't so wobbly.

What a carby. Bring on the EFI.

im doin a carb service with the same carb and have noticed a 1/8 ball bearing at the bottom of the bucket after soaking would anybody know where this bb sits????
