hey just got some gearing 6.5 just curious to what people think of these and what tyres size you are running and what terrains they handle wether its sand and rock or just rock

The easier question would be to ask who isn't running 6.5 or similar reductions.
They'll best suit low speed, technical driving with 31" or larger tyres where control is needed more than wheel speed. Rocks, ruts and steps they will shine.

I find them too low for sand work and stick to high range most of the time. o

In my Auto efi Vitara with 31's and 4:24 tranny gears,
I use Hi range for most sand, but find low range great for the severe dunes and tight work.

they are slow as. id go less transfer reduction and more diff reduction. the gap between high and low range is massive. while they are awesome for really slow stuff anything else sucks balls haha

im running 32s offroad and 30s on road. for high range on road 30s are mad sits at about 4000 at 110 which is perfect. but with 32s it drops that down to about 3400ish which is too low and you end up in 4th trying to do 100

it also sucks if say you have a few hundred metres between hard sections as 5th low is still way lower than 1st high so your always going between low and high.

not saying they are shit in anyway but you have to use them for the right terrain.

I've got them, and I'm running 31" trepadors, it's great offroad and I'm doing about 4000 rpm @ 105 - 110

On sand I always used 4H in first or 2nd depending on softness.

I'm running 34s on my 6.5s.... I think it's perfect!!! 1st low down hills you don't use breaks... 2nd and 3rd low up hills it just crawls.... I love them! I like better on 34s then the 32s...

Lots of people here have fitted all the different ratios.
You need to pick whats best for your car with your tire in your terrain.

If you already have the 6.5s like you say in your first post, then use them and increase your tire size. 6.5s on 31s work, if thats what you already have and dont want to spend money.
BUT, if you do want to go 31s, you probably are better off with the 4.9s, you can probably sell the 6.5s for a profit anyway.
