Hey guys, I'm looking at getting a 2005 on jimny with the vvt m13a in a couple of months,
The mods Im thinking are: 4inch lift (tough dog 80mm with 30mm coil spacers) would that lift allow me to run 31x10.5r15 or 30x9.5r15?
And are there any real problems running that size with stock gearing and engine, Also looking into a m15a swift conversion, if anyone can tell me if its an easy conversion, or to just leave the stock engine. Cheers.

and Ill say just get the 3" lift, chop the guards and later if u still need more ad some spacers to accommodate sagging if any for bar weight ect

After reading a few jimny builds, I've seen that 2inch lift and 215/75/r15 looks better than I thought, would anyone have an idea of the cost of a 1.5 suzuki swift engine conversion? I've found an engine for $650 on eBay. Cheers

if you go with the 215's I would say drive it with the 1.3 first
I have a non vvt jimny on 215/75's and it's fine.

there is also a 1.8 M series you can put in too.
search a bit and you will find a few builds on here with the 1.8

it's quite an easy swap as far as engine swaps go.

for 4wding gearing is always better then more power

Yep! Wish I could afford to dump that sort of money in a matter of months. Whoever buys it will have get some serious value.
The build had a sort of "here today, gone tomorrow" feel about it, was fun to watch though. I think he just wanted to outdo his buddy.

I think the Trial Jimny gears are around $800 from what others have said. They offer 20%, 24% and 27% reduction in both high and low range.

The Sierra transfer swap has become a more popular option though and offers a large selection of different ratio options.

Probs live with able on 215s, but 235s and up it will burn your clutch and you have limited to no control off road...

Yes, swap to a NON VVT Jimny transfer for about 24% reduction, but you'll need a custom intermediate (jack) shaft and a few other misc bits

cheaper option than that would be get 215's tyres. Wheel like that till u kill the tyres (2 years time more or less depending on tyre and amount of kms) and it would be enough time to u to decide if you need bigger and to get the money for it

What if I were to buy an older jimny with the transfer case. Would that need gearing? To run 235/75/r15? Cheers

Different gearbox ratios. If you buy the earlier Jimny you'd need to swap the gearbox for a similar result

Ok, So im thinking of getting the newer model (05-12), I just prefer a few things on it. I would just need trialjimny gears, then it should be fine to run 29" or 30"?

31s would be better, don't go more than 20% if you want to drive at highway speed.

Like Bert said, run 215s for a while and you won't need gears, big tyres are over rated

I knew someone would say that, only reason I'm running 30s is to gear it up. I'd prefer to be running 235s.
