Me and the missus are looking at buying a gv for a family car. We are looking at the 99-04 sq625 gv.
I was wondering if they would possibly tow a car trailer without struggling to much. Also what other things to look out for when buying one. So far ive read they have timming tensioner problems.

i highly doubt that they'd be rated to tow a car & car trailer... maybe the car trailer on it's own.

^ Mine towed great when it was stock. Towed a 7x5 cage trailer full of furniture and had the back seats folded down loaded up with stuff too. Haven't towed with lift and bigger tyres yet though.

I have the j20a gv with the 2L motor. it tows ok with a trady trailer and about 400kg of over all load but i have seen B4t tow his 800kg caravan over the Black Spur with 31" silverstone extreems on in the pissing down rain and while he survived the drive it was kinda not what the GV was made for. I am sure the GV would the kind of weight you are looking at but taking off on a hill and or stopping it from 100k's.... what it would do to your driveline/clutch/motor would be interesting to say the least

Not recomended to do so with the silverstone Xtremes in the wet without a sway bar.... I use level riders to help with the handeling when towing and the GV goes around corners like the van is not there....

Only having a 1850kg tow rate then it'll unlikely tow what I want.

same brakes, same chassis only slightly heaver so really it should be rated a bit less.
