The racks on my 1994 5 door Vitara have locks in the end caps of the rails/cross bars - WHY?

Any chance of a picture? Maybe for hooking skis on or some such?

The only thing it locks on is the plastic cap.

Just looked on the Rola site and it shows the locks but says nothing about them?

hammer + flat blade screw driver = key
