Hey guys
I've got an old g16a 8v engine with carby minus distributor Has done 280000 Km
It does run, a bit rough tho has an oil leak from the front crank seal I think.
Thinking it may have a blown head gasket as it was using a bit of coolant and couldn't find a leak could also just be water pump if I had a compression tester that worked I'd be able to check but unfortunately I don't. No coolant in the oil tho or oil in the coolant.
Also the header on it has a crack in it looks like some one has had a go at trying to weld it up.
Not sure what it is worth but seein as I only paid just over 1000 for my new one with 160 000ks on it
Ill say $300 neg

Hey mate these blocks are prone to cracking and that could be where the coolant is disappearing from Have a look at the block under the intake manifold for any signs of coolant weaping out

Thanks joe I did end up having a look I put th hose on the inlet and had a look to see if I could see anything seeping out of the block where you said I couldn't see any cracks or anything I had a few small drips emerging from a welch plug in the inlet manifold not sure if that might be new tho? Also found the running rough problem I pulled the ignition leads off the old motor and one of the pretty much fell apart in my hand I'm assuming this would cause the engine not be performing 100%
I ended up selling the engine to a guy for $100 who ended up just wanting the crank shaft.
I am however interested in this block cRacking issue as I still a g16a is this due to over heating / old age?
