Hey all... the other morning on the way to work i stalled it and it took a little bit to start and idled rough before clearing up - i just blamed it on myself dropping the clutch too quick... however it just happened again - cold start, drove perfectly fine to bunnings. got back in the car to head home, started it up and it was borderline stalling and sounded like its dropped a cylinder (petrol smell from the exhaust also)... it accelerated very badly (as in, hardly at all) while puttering away sounding like a tractor (at this point im thinking its definitely dropped a cylinder) - once i got a bit of speed up i let it engine brake and it sounded perfectly fine on engine braking - so i assume its not getting spark to a cylinder.

Anyway, i limped it home (only 2km) and let it sit in the driveway for a few mintues, then went back out and started it up again and its running fine...

Engine is a g16b bottom, jimny g13bb top and jimny computer running vitara injectors.

Any ideas where to start looking? Or am i better to just drive it straight to a mechanic monday morning? (FYI i dont have a spark plug socket).

Aron- check what royce has said and check that the coil packs are all connected properly. might just be a bad connection. if you want, go and grab some new plugs and ill come around tomorrow after work and do it for ya. How old are the plugs/coils packs anyway?

any check engine lights?

Royce, no its not humid or raining.

text me if you want me to come over.

no check engine lights... plugs are about 6months old give or take, but theyre stockers, not fancy platinum or anything.

The prick did it again this morning on the freeway... pulled over and wiggled everything in sight and nothing happened... kept being a POS sounding like it was running on 2 cylinders... unplugged the cable to the coil pack for cylinders 2&3 and it kept on chugging away... plugged it back in and boom - back to normal idle.

must be shit in the connector... will give it a proper clean out at lunch.

glad its a simple fix!
