So i have being doing a fair bit of work on my LJ lately and took it down to the local to get a RWC and find out what else i need doing. He put it up on the hoist and stopped there and said there is too much rust and didnt continue.

I have a great workshop who said, If i took the body off and got it down to him reckons he could fix it for min $800 but further work may be required.

Other then the rust in the floor pane the LJ looks to be in pretty good nick, the F10a in it is strong and I have another freshly built motor to drop in or sell. Do i cut my loses and sell of all parts or get the work done and hope that the cost does not continue to run away? Cost so Far Car $1300, Optima $200, Paint and work $200, Permits and RWC per-inspection $150.

This was designed to be a red plated weekend Medium car not a big budget rig.

pics of the rust. if its only gonna cost you $800 there cant be much in it.

agreed, if there is only $800 the car must be almost rust free.
as labour costs are fairly high for repairs like this. between $60-$100 an hour. so if it can be fixed in a day it has to be worth saving.

if it gets too much contact me BEFORE you sell it and i'll see what/how hard it is to repair. or i'll most likely buy it for my for a new Adventure tour car, which means that i'll cut it up pretty bad

LJs are worth almost nothing as parts too. The only bits arguably worth anything (even then...) are good panels and running 2 stroke engines.

If it's only $800 then go for it! Just make sure they're doing quality work and not just filling it with bog.

Man your going about it wrong. Take night classes in panel beating at your local polytech or tafe etc and talk to the tutor about supplying a suitable vehicle to fix.... you can see how it gets done, have a hand in it and it may cost you a few hundy in course fees. Next semister take a painting class....

Your 2hundy for paint and wk cant have got you far - in 5 to 10 years you will punch yourself in the nuts if you scrap it....
