oil pressure instantly on all the time turning corners less chance of oil starvation unlike the little stubby one

Its easily noticeable even for a layman like myself with some engine builds & boxes under my belt or a smug expert know it all (A dozen or so oil / filter changes with the z418/g16b so far) that when hard cornering I had oil starvation, now it seems with the same oil at the same level on the stick but Z9, starvation does not occur at all - a simple observation, it did bother me before now Im surprised this has stopped by just changing to a Z9 (could it be that this extra capacity keeps the bearings lubed for longer?). Go ahead and chop those filters up you promised. Just make sure its a ryco z9 late one with anti flow back valve and bypass valve Id love to "learn" and have proven to me and others, how you think the by-pass valve will be on all the time with no oil been filtered as you say, seriously Id go back to the Z418 if the engine is at risk & admit Ive made a bad choice this is why I started this thread. I thought that 10psi rating is what is required to filter properly due to the larger filter surface area compared to the z418 that requires 4 psi more to keep the flow volume up to lube the bearings.
Atari 4x4 - the 1999 is my daily work hack, It handles quite well for what it is, keeps up with GTi swifts in their club runs personally never going FWD but playing and owning many suks over the last 20 years there is always an invite for a cruise or show / shine etc.

Sorry, but are you saying having a marginally bigger oil filter overcomes the fact that the pickup isn't getting the oil from the sump in the first place? Better tell all the race cars baffles in the sump and dry sumps are a waste of time then?

Better tell all the race cars baffles in the sump and dry sumps are a waste of time then? The correct sized pickup does not overcome how much oil gets to the bearings (unless its incorrectly undersized or oversized in it diameter which is an important point for everyone that wants to retrofit the carry 13bb style pickup and sump to use with the correct bigger g16b pick up) its seems the filter can change the flow and volume if its a mild, strong or total restriction (eg. smaller. bigger capacity, filter medium difference or if its clogged) then the by pass valve comes in for the latter. Most Laymen understand the pickup feeds and fills up the oil filter (which causes some restriction to flow like breathing though a dust filter mask of varied filter densities or surface area or both or more than one filter if using dual remote filters) then filtered oil feeds the bearings. So why did you compare a dry sump system with endless remote filtration choices to the trivial change Ive made?

So why did you compare a dry sump system with endless remote filtration choices to the trivial change Ive made? You are aware there's a pump in there somewhere arn't you? Airate the pump because you corner too hard and expose the pickup (in a Sierra, with correct oil level?????) and you will loose oil pressure......period. Since the pump is supply said oil to the filter, and it dosn't matter whether its a tiny little thing or or a bank of Z9's, if you loose pressure one end, you loose it the other too..... its a filter FFS, not a fancy gas/air charged accumulator system. The amount the filter is blocked will also have SFA effect of the amount of oil getting to the bearings. When the pressure drop across the filter exceeds the bypass valve setting, it simply bypass's the element. it may not be filtered, but will still get there. A guage mounted downline of this will show no differance to pressure. Like breathing through a dust mask????? Seriously....this has about as much relevance as a dog turd.

The pump is no where near what was discussed in the last few posts - the path from pickup to bearings - Carry is a different beast, all alloy very well baffled unit compared to all other G series setups and the lack of noise during the same treatment gave me some hope its running better with this bigger filter nothing fancy but very sad to post this today, the filter came undone by itself somehow and dropped the guts all over the freeway, I could smell the smoke but was too late cooked the g16b before I realised as I was busy sexting on the phone missed the guage and idiot light. Maybe caused some accidents behind me from what I heard on the traffic report on the radio while waiting for a towie. Im sorry to have mislead some people pls use the factory recommended filter or face a similar dramas. At least it gives me a reason to either to fit the low km sx4 J20a I have, considering the bolt up pattern is the same as the g16b just need to do a custom sump, oil pickup, manifolds and after market ecu with correct factory oil filter this time as before but no deviation. Otherwise will fit my other 78mm honda piston, bigger exh valved g16b, but waiting for modded 3tec cams from Canada and custom made headers.

If you think the Z9 is good, you should try the new range of performance filters from ryco as well, they make a shiney Z9 now as well, that should get you all barred up right?

More drama was requested so I delivered "sexting" should have given it away Im not Warney Z9 experience alive and well BTW Atari cool Avatar, so "Rad" inspired me grade 3 & 5 kids for a few seconds till they related the image to typical Atari dreamworld battlers eg. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQD7IgO8Imc Yep still barred up over the cheap Z9, still going well after another 520kms - oil is very clean all good will report if any real dramas occur Another concern was the thinner rubber seal around the Z9 so far no leaks. I often fill the filter with clean oil before startup after an oil & filter change for extra insurance, could there be an upright filter housing adapter for the Sierra and vitaras from another car that could fit the G16 or g13? Brother found from someone else a 90s Volvo turbo extended upright filter housing fitted instead of the usual side on CA18det adapter.
