car has been running like a pile of shit every now and then for a few weeks now. will idle a little rough then anything less then full throttle it dies.
I've narrowed it down to master jet, so I usually I just take the boot off the carby hat, open the throttle and stick my hand over the hat.

but today this didn't work!! any ideas? I'm going to pull the carby off and give it a clean but I'm not hopeful.

>Swap cords 1 and 4 on dizzy
> start and rev to 2.5
>let it die down
>rev to 2.5 again and jet will back fire (best you have the cap off the carby)

Sounds like a similar problem to what mine had. this didn't fix mine but it may work for yours. i ended up cleaning out the entire carby. ran fine for about half an hour then went back to running like shit.
Just got a modified weber instead.

Best thing I ever did to my carby was stripped all the non essential parts off it, like the auto choke and idle up, and stuck a $2 filter between the pump and inlet on the carby and I havent had to touch it since, which is going on 4 years now. Do a search on here for Sheps carby fix.

Just put a new/second hand tank in and it was fairly clean.
New filter. Doesn't have any of the silly things on it.

mechanic friend of mine suggested its over fuelling heavily, hence its flooding except for when at full throttle?? seems plausible to me as it does smell like its running extremely rich.

Clean out carb. . Replace fuel filter.. put in a little motorbike fuelfilter ( from any sprint or repco ) just before the carb.
Common problem on the sierra..

soo the filter fixed the problem for a few days until it melted.

Ive decided to pull the carby down and rebuild it.
ordered a kit and im just going to do it bit by bit over the next week.

i found an exploded diagram on google but its not really that good.

so if anyone has any tips or links to a guide would be great.
First time ive rebuilt a carby so should be exciting.

was a plastic one. probably too close to the rocker cover.
it just softened enough for the barb to bend over and kink and block the fuel.
