Yeah... I did end up doing that but still very little difference.....

Yeah... I did end up doing that but still very little difference.....

In regards to the compression, I would next check your valve clearances. If the valves adjusters (the little grub screw looking things on the end of each rocker arm) are adjusted too tight then they wont allow the valves to seat properly, which allows some gas to escape out past the valve.

It's pretty simple to do if you have a set of feeler gauges.
