Hi all

I'm considering new suspension for my Jimny. Right now it has a +40 mm OME suspension, but it's way too soft, and can't handle the ORA winch bumper fitted with a Warn 8274 winch.

I've been looking at a full +80mm Tough Dog suspension with winch-suitable springs and looked at the +4" ORA kit, but with AVO adjustable shocks, rather than the Rough Country shocks.

Does any one know how the Tough Dog shocks perform? I need shock much harder than the OME ones.

And anyone with AVO shocks? Are they any good?

rear tough dogs are as stiff as hell.. when you get around to ordering some if it is what you choose, you can have mine for cheap i swapped them out for pro comps

These look quite interesting. Does anyone on here have them? I would be interested in getting some feedback on these.

I've been in contact with Rus@JB regarding shocks for my Jimny.
He told me that the AVO shocks go from softer than ES1000's to stiffer than ES9000's. So that settled it for me. At least for the front axle, which is the biggest problem. I'm still not sure if I want to spend the extra cash on AVO shocks for the rear axle or just go with ES3000 shocks.

Does anyone know how ES3000 shocks compare to OME +40mm shocks?

If the rear is ok, why not just keep your OME shocks in the back? Up to about 90 mm lift and shock repositioners they can take it. I'm saying that because it's what i have.

My setup (it sits level):

Front: OME HD springs and shocks all around + 50 mm spring spacers + 40 mm shock extenders.

Rear: Stock front coil + 40 mm spacers + OME shocks + 40 mm shock repositioners.

As you, I have wondered about a firmer suspension for some time due to the overly softness in the beginning. However, i kind of like it now. Their engineering do allow a quick full travel at any moment, especially when you hit those big bumps (as they advertise). They swing but do keep the wheels on the ground for control and it's actually more comfy than any other I've tried, especially for those who ride in the back seats. Maybe it's bad if you have to attack obstacles at speed (which is not my case here). Mine is a daily, so OME shocks are perfect for me. Much better than stock. Over one year with them and they are like new

I don't like the idea of using spacers. They're only good for looks in my opinion. And since this is for offroading I want as much articulation as possible.

Hi Tom,

I agree with you. All i'm saying is keep the rear OME shocks, nothing else.

Additionally, shock repositioners in the rear are strongly recommended on 2"+ lifts, unless you have some sort of correction.

But you probably already know all of that.
