helping out a mate do a rear swing he has an axle stub and bearings just wondering what sort of hub do you use? is there a place that makes a hub that you can weld to?

I welded to cheapest hub at the closest place I could find. Think it was some shitty 4 stud 4" pcd cast iron thing from supercrap.
I cut all the stuff off and preheated it, and cranked the welder right up.
Chinese bearings died way before the welds looked like failing.

You could look for a cast steel hub.

But I cut the thing off... way too much weight, moves the tyre further from the axle, and with the weight of the bar to support the tyre carrier, it made the car less capable.
Cut if all off and the car improved significantly.

Look at Rijidij offroad for a pre machined steel hub (not cast), get a hub machined from hollow bar or ditch the trailer bearing idea completely.

I have made two now, Sierra uses nylon bushes and Rangie uses self lubricating glacier (EZI-glide etc) bushes. If i was doing another, i would go straight to the glasier type bushes.

If you have a stub axle and bearings to suit why don't you just press a sleeve into a thick wall tube?
